the silver collar later engraved with initials, W.D.
Further details
By repute this cane belonged to Sir Richard Steele (1672-1729).
Sir Richard Steele founded the Tatler (1709-11), to which Addison also contributed and also the Spectator (1711/12) and the Guardian (1713).
