The following lots were worn by Charlotte Brown Nast, the society beauty. Miss Brown was an avid traveller, spending much time in Peking and travelling the world. She was hailed by Cecil Beaton as 'the most beautiful I've seen in New York' on his quest to find five American beauties to complete his selection of fifty English roses. She was presented at Court at St James's in 1928 and was said to have been the first to re-introduce the long skirt in America. Miss Brown married Charles Coudert Nast, son of Condé Nast, the publisher, in 1928. The wedding was celebrated in New York at her parents' home, followed by a glittering reception given by Condé Nast at his Park Avenue penthouse appartment attended by the creme of international society.
