CRARY, Mary. The Daughters of the Stars. Illustrated by Edmund Dulac, London: Hatchards, 1939, small 4°, number 4 of 300 copies, signed by the author and artist, inscribed copy from the author's mother to Dr Phelps of New York, coloured plates, original vellum-backed green cloth, blue calf spine label.

2 typed and on manuscript letter from the author's mother to Dr Phelps, inserted loose, offer an interesting insight into the production of this book. It would appear to be the only deluxe edition book to be published in England during the war years and is the first book that Dulac illustrated for 11 years. He designed the complete format including the attractive limitation leaf.
