A 19th Century gold copy of the ring known as the betrothal ring "passion ring" made for the wedding of Martin Luther and Catherine von Bora, the band modelled as Christ on the Cross, and the devices of the crucifixon, the centre set with a single facetted garnet, the shank engraved 'D Martino Luthero Catharina you Boren', with accompanying manuscript dated 1881 describing the history of the ring; and a Continental late 19th Century silver rectangular box stamped with various figures, bearing import marks for London 1890.
