A 19th century bronze portrait relief roundel, after David D'Angers, of Guillaume-Xavier Labbey de Pompières, facing dexter, with subject's signature, bearing signature DAVID 1829, mounted on a circular ebonised wood plaque -- the bronze, 4¾in.(12cm.) diameter.

Labbey de Pompières, 1751 - 1831. David executed a large number of medallions of his political contemporaries, and regarded the inclusion of their signatures as an integral part of his depiction of their character.
