The blade probably German and probably contemporary with the hilt

Of tapering form with twin fullers to the upper part, each fuller inscribed to either side Andria Ferara, the iron hilt with fluted domed pommel, flattened iron bars of square section pierced with stylised hearts and circles with plain quillon and chamois leather liner, reeded fishskin covered wood grip, bound at either end with corded brass wires
