A gilt heightened paperscroll relief picture depicting a turreted keep, below an inset reverse glass portrait of Charles II, flanked by figures of swans and urns issuing flowers, with the initials M.C., and the date 1688, within a sloping border of foliate ornament, the ebonised and glazed pine frame hung with a later giltwood plaque inscribed Paper picture made at Westerham, Kent as a specimen from the old mills there. 1688, English, late 17th century -- 16½in. x 14in.
