Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279)
The top carved with a continuous lotus meander, the sides and back with openwork lotus, the front incised with three playing boys, the interior with a mark reading Dong jia gongfu, "made by the Dong family", all under an icy blue glaze pooling in the carved areas to enhance the design in a deeper blue tone
