An Ottoman carved and painted wood kavukluk turban stand 19th Century
Of typical form, the backplate with central blue shell motif within a cusped frame, a panel above inscribed mashallah, in a surround of scrolling gold foliate motifs terminating in rosettes and with applied pine-cone motifs, the lower part with similar simpler motifs, the shaped shelf with scrolling bracket, slight damages, repainted -- 44in. (112cm.) high
