Lot Essay

Nick Park's much loved characters Wallace and Gromit first appeared in A Grand Day Out, which Park had started in 1982, as his graduation film whilst a student at the National Film and Television School. Six years later in 1990 when complete, the film was released to much acclaim winning a BAFTA for Best Animated Film, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Short Animated Film. A Grand Day Out was followed by The Wrong Trousers in 1993 and A Close Shave in 1995, both of which won Academy Awards and BAFTAs for Best Animated Film.

Nick Park made these Wallace and Gromit models at home in his kitchen.
