A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI GILT-WALNUT CHAISES EN CABRIOLET
Circa 1775
Each with a molded and channelled frame centered by a ribbon-tied stylized flowerhead, on scrolling acanthus supports, the oval padded back and circular seat covered in yellow and cream floral-patterned silk, above a panelled seat-rail centered by a trailing stylized flower-head, on tapering fluted legs headed by a gadrooned knop, with a pencil inscription 654 cha (2)

Lot Essay

An identical pair of chains possibly the same, was exhibited at Art Treasures Exhibition, Parke-Bernet Galleries, May/June 1967, illustrated no. 274.
