The present ice pails are from a service for iced punch designed in the Egyptian revival style popularized by the Napoleonic campaignes. An example of such a service made by the Paris firm of Paul Dagoty is in the Thurn-und-Taxis Collection, Regensburg. See Reinhold Baumstark, Thurn und Taxis Museum Regensburg, Höfische Kunst und Kultur, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, no. 105D. See also Régine de Plinval de Guillebon, Faïance et porcelaines de Paris, XVIII. - XIX. siècles, Paris, 1995, fig. 370 for the nearly identical design produced by the rival Paris firm of Caron & Lefebvre.
