Sold with the lot is a set of 3 extra proof engravings by Gill, each numbered 11/25 and initialled E.G. in pencil. A one-page letter referring to them, neatly affixed to the lower inner flap of the dust-jacket, in an unidentified hand, unsigned and dated June 15th 1926 on paper headed "Capel-Y-Ffin, Abergenny", states: "Dear Sir, Procreant Hymn. Alternative Designs. Herewith I send set of prints as ordered together with my account." In John Physick's Catalogue of the Engraved Work of Eric Gill these "alternative designs" - which are more explicit than those included in the book - correspond to entries 364, "God Sending", 365, "Earth Inviting" and 367, "Earth Receiving".
