The Reverend J. Slatter was Vicar at Streatley-on-Thames and later a Canon at Christ Church, Oxford. His family were often photographed by Dodgson. Loosely-inserted is the mounted clipped signature of Henry P. Liddon (1829-90), Dodgson's lifelong friend.
