Lot Essay

The first letter from Dickens, dated 148 Kings Road, Brighton, May 26, 1847, is to Erasmus Wilson, thanking him for sending a book "which I have read with the greatest interest and pleasure: and not less for the very kind and welcome note accompanying it", with envelope; the second, from 48 Doughty Street, London, "Wednesday morning", is to the Reverend R. H. Barham ["Thomas Ingoldsby"], saying: "Ainsworth and I purpose calling on you at a quarter before one to have some further conversation on the matter we spoke of yesterday. Say in a word by Bearer whether we shall put you much out by doing so."
