Lot Essay

Robert Daws of 17, Margaret Street, Cavendish Square, London was active from about 1820-1839, and patented his Improved Recumbent Chair in 1827. Several variants of the chair were made and examples are illustrated in Loudon's Encyclopaedia of 1833 and 1839.
