An Italian kingwood and marquetry bombe bureau cabinet, with carved ebonised mouldings of acanthus scrolls, fruiting stems, with grapes and pomegranates, and inlaid with brass, copper and pewter, heightened in mother-of-pearl in designs of arabesques, foliate tendrils with butterflies and birds on an ebony reserve ground, fitted with numerous secret drawers and compartments operated by spring locks and cord pulls,the upper part with an undulating cornice centred by a foliate finial, hung with fruit concealing a lock (now lost), flanked a thyrusus supported by winged beasts, enclosed by a pair of hinged sliding panel doors centred by oar and urn bearing water gods and inscribed indistinctly Retrone, ....Clione, the fall decorated with eagles chasing their prey and enclosing a fitted interior and inlaid in brass within a cartouche
