The settee was originally a sofa bed of the type illustrated by Thomas Sheraton in The Cabinet Maker's and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793 XXXI and furnished with additional matresses and bolster cushions.
A settee with closely related feet was sold Christie's King Street, 12th July 1990, lot 92.
