The Bermudian-rigged 8 metre racing schooner L'Aile (VI) was designed by P. Arbaut and build for Madame Virginie Heriot by Chanties de la Heve in 1928. Registered in Le Havre at 13 tons gross, her overall length was 45.9 feet and she had an 8.3 foot beam and a draught of 6..4feet. Her sails were made by the famous Ratsey and spread a total of 839 square feet when all set. Shown on this fan under full sail, she is flying the burgee of the Yacht Club of France at her mizzen top.
