A rare Jacobite fan, the leaf painted possibly by Sir Robert Strange with a portrait of Prince Charles Edward, The Young Pretender above allegorical maps of Great Britain and Ireland with three female figures bearing attributes of Ireland, England and Scotland, the verso painted with a gatehouse and a dove carrying a banner inscribed 'My House shall be called the House of Prayer', with ivory sticks, the guardsticks carved with a crown, a rose, a harp, acorns and an eye, the lower guardstick with a thistle, crossed swords, a rose and an anchor - 11in., circa 1745 (tip of one guardstick replaced)
