The print run of the Harrovian was approximately 700-750 and the School Roll for that period 550-600. It was compulsory for each boy to receive a copy. There was normally an issue per month and in the nature of things few boys would have kept all the issues to have the bound up locally each year which makes this complete run of 49 issues potentially rare, especially as it is the run of the magazine for the entire period that Churchill was at Harrow.
The Harrovian contains Churchill's earliest known printed writings in the form of two letters, both concerning the School Display and Gymnasium and signed: "Junius Junior" [The Harrovian, 19 December 1891, Vol. IV No.10, pp.129-130 and 17th March 1892, Vol. V No.2 p.24].
Other references to Churchill are as follows: May 1890, Vol.III, No.3, p.33. Winner in the House Sports of the Carrying Race with G.C. Godfrey; February 1891, Vol.IV, No.1, p.3. Army Preliminary Examination passed; May and December 1892, Vol.V, No. 4, p.42, and Vol.V, No.9, p.108 both for prowess and fencing.
