A collection of three autograph letters, signed, altogether five pages, two from Grand Hotel Beveldere, Davos-Platz, Switzerland, the other from Windlesham, Crowborough, Sussex, one only dated February 8th 1895, all to Edward Tennyson Reed (1860-1933, portrait artist) mentioning domestic matters, including Mrs. Reed's health, thanking Reed for a sketch ("I shall keep myself in my extreme old age by selling it at the price which a genuine Reed will then be worth"), and discussing a mutual friend's untimely death ("It was the most fearful smash up that I -- in a fairly large surgical experience -- have ever seen"), one letter in original envelope.
