'Percy', a rare Steiff 'hot water bottle' teddy bear
with centre seam, golden mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped snout, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, elongated jointed shaped limbs, cream felt foot pads, hump, opening at tummy fastened by shoelace wound around brass hooks and button in ear --20in. tall, circa 1907 (lacks metal hot-water tin, two small holes to snout, slight wear to plush in places, paw pads recovered, upper arms and legs a little limp)

This novelty Teddy 'hot water bottle' was expected to be a great success, but surprisingly there was very little interest in the bear. It is now quite rare to find, for only 90 examples were made during the years of production, 1907-14
