A large Japanese celadon ground vase with pierced dragon handles and moulded chrysanthemum sprays and stylised lotus leaves to the neck and shoulder, further decorated in underglaze blue and copper red to one side with a rectangular panel of a butterfly in flight above flowering grasses and fungus, the reverse with calligraphy -- 28¼in. high.
