Lot Essay

The photographs taken by Ian Ghee a civilian Information Officer employed by a detachment of America's 67th Air Rescue Squadron based at Prestwick. On March 3rd, 1960 Elvis Presley arrived at the air base in a U.S. Air Force aircraft bound for New York from Frankfurt. The plane stopped for refuelling and Presley was with a group of U.S. servicemen on his way home to be demobilised.
