Lot Essay

This letter and those in lots 396 and 397 were all sent to the winner of the T-shirt in lot 393. All the letters were sent to the fan on Johnny Rotten's return from the group's U.S. tour in 1978. Rotten sent all five letters together in one envelope after cutting each letter into two. He had apparantly done this to amuse the recipient who had plenty of time to spare as he was on the dole at the time.
