A black basalt teapot and cover moulded in relief to commemorate Wellington's victories in the Peninsular War, moulded to one side with a bust of the general being crowned with laurels by Britannia while Fame sounds a trumpet above the inscription VIRESQUE ACQUIRIT EUNDO and WELLINGTON, to the reverse with the inscription India Portugal & Spain VITTORIA 21 JUNE, beneath arcades and a laurel wreath and within stylised anthemion motifs, with lionmask spout and shake handle, the finial to the cover modelled as a basket of fruit (hairline crack and minor chips), circa 1813 -- 9¼in. high
