A 15ct gold medal, the obverse inscribed 1906, the reverse inscribed The Football Association, W. Abbott, Everton F.C., English Cup Winners, with ring suspension.
Walter Abbott joined Everton in 1899 from Small Heath. Playing in the left-half position Abbott was more-or-less an ever-present from season 1899-1900 to 1907-08 before joining Burnley in the close season of 1908. Thereafter he re-joined Small Heath but retired through injury in 1910. Abbott made 257 League appearances for Everton scoring 32 goals. He also played in 34 F.A. Cup ties scoring five goals.

Lot Essay

After two unsuccessful attempts at winning the F.A.Cup, Everton finally won the trophy for the first-ever time in season 1905-6 by defeating Newcastle United 1-0 in front of a crowd of 75,000 at the Crystal Palace. Everton's cup-winning goal that day was scored by Young.
