A Syrian, hardwood, ivory inlaid and strung bureau, decorated with chequer panels, stellar roundels, and lozenge bands, meandering tendrils and stylised floral stems, with an open superstructure and sloping fall enclosing a writing slide, with an enclosed compartment to one side, fitted with two frieze drawers and hinged chequerboard with an open compartment below, on a plinth base -- 46in. (117cm.) wide, 50in. (127cm.) high, 20in. (51cm.) deep.
