In the above match, played on 14th November 1951 at Hampden Park, Wales defeated Scotland 1-0.

The above cap was awarded to Tommy Docherty and represents his first-ever International appearance for Scotland. Docherty was born in Glasgow on 24th April 1928 and joined Celtic in July 1948 from Shettleston Juniors. In November 1949 he joined Preston North End and with the Lancashire side won the Football League Division 2 Championship in 1951 and was an F.A.Cup finalist in 1954. He joined Arsenal in August 1958 for (28,000 and became player/coach at Chelsea in February 1961. He retired from playing at the end of season 1960-61 and became manager in January 1962, a post he held until October 1967. Thereafter there were periods as manager of Rotherham United, Queen's Park Rangers, Aston Villa and F.C.Oporto before becoming assistant manager at Hull City in July 1971. He then became the Scotland team manager in September of that year and in December 1972 joined Manchester United in the same capacity. He held this post with United until July 1977 and in September of that year he became Derby County manager. He again managed Queen's Park Rangers from May 1979 to October 1980 before travelling to Australia to become manager of Sydney Olympic in December 1980. He joined Preston North End in June 1981 staying only a few months before returning to Australia to manage South Melbourne F.C. Whilst in Australia he again joined Sydney Olympic before returning to these shores to manage Wolverhampton Wanderers in June 1984
