A slender tapering oviform vase with Buddhistic lion handles and flaring neck, painted and heavily gilt with a continuous scene of peacocks perched on rockwork among chrysanthemums, daisies and wisteria overlooking sailing boats before pavilions in a mountainous river landscape, all between formal borders (some gilt rubbing) -- 14½in. high, signed Satsuma-yaki Hotoda.
