A collection of porcelain and glass recovered from the wreck of the S.S. Empress of Ireland built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Glasgow in 1906 for Canadian Pacific Line. Empress of Ireland had a passenger capacity of 2960 including up to 1500 in steerage. She was sunk in collision with the Storstad (a Norwegian Coal collier) in a very thick fog, on the St. Lawrence on 29 May 1914, east of Quebec. She sank in 5 minutes with a loss of 1024 passengers. Today she lies in about 160 feet of water leaning over on her starboard side. Comprising:-
