An early 19th Century sailor's wooden picture model of a barque with standing and running rigging, simple deck details and three ship's boats. Finished in red, black and varnish with gilded decoration and mounted on a painted, moulded seascape with brass plate engraved 'THIS BARQUE was made by my brother ALFRED MAcANDREW. The wood encasing the glass is part of the French battleship DUGUAY TROUIN, Captured 4th Nov. 1805 after escaping from Trafalgar.' Glazed case. Measurements overall -- 12¼ x 20in (31 x 50.8 cm)
