An ivory and gilt bronze mounted vase, formed from a section of tusk the body carved in relief with the figure of Eve kneeling beneath and taking fruit from "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil", the sun setting beyond, the rim mounted with the serpent, the base modelled with entwined lilies, signed and dated Ch Samuel, 1895 -- 18½in. (47cm.) high.
