Lot Essay

This highly competent Victorian sculptor is best known for his hunting scenes, dogs and racehorses. His career was short but very prolific, he exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1870-78. As with the present example his bronzes are extremely well finished, with great attention to detail. The present model was probably cast by Elkington & Co, in the latter part of the 19th century.
