A Napoleon III walnut, purple-heart and inlaid table a ouvrage, of undulating outline, gilt-metal-mounted and decorated with scroll cartouches, the top bordered with ribbon bound floral sprays, and centred by musical trophies and sliding with the frieze drawer to reveal a baize-lined writing surface, inkwells and pen tray and hinged to reveal a tulipwood and marquetry, mirrored interior, with lidded compartments and spools, between pierced corbels, with a well below, sliding to both sides to reveal an open compartment and letter divisions, on chandelle-decorated turned fluted tapering legs, joined by shaped stretchers, on toupie feet -- 23in.
