WYNYARD, Major Edward George -- A 30-page text book containing newspaper clippings of various Forces cricket matches including those played against the I Zingari side, 1916-19, signed by Wynyard and annotated throughout in his hand (though lacking several leaves). One inscription, relating to the I Zingari v. R.M.C. match played at Sandhurst, on Saturday, June 14th, 1919 reads: "Lovely hot day, A.C. Gore bowled very well. We had very little bowling." Another relates to the Free Foresters v. Royal Fusiliers match played at Lord's on June 16th and 17th, and states: "'Coo' Palairet played a beautiful 1st knock." Bound in original cloth-backed marbled boards (extremities rubbed); together with a similar half morocco album of news clippings, early 1900's; and a collection of news clippings and score cards, with a lesser number of letters and photographs, loosely-filed in 3 modern albums with plastic covers. Included among these are a silk scorecard for "1883 Surrey v Hampshire," in which Surrey's innings of 650 is described as "the largest made in an important match in England," a typed letter from Lord Harris and 3 appreciative letters to Wynyard from Jack Hobbs.
