An unusual 3/4in:1ft scale steam powered model of the Royal High Flyers swing boats 'Thelma' and 'Pamela' built by R. Fish. Measurements overall -- 21 x 43in. (53.5 x 109cm.)
With twin cylinder Savage portable centre engine with brazed copper boiler, normal fittings, appropriate valve gear, ratchet operated lubricator and hand feed pump, the crankshafts connected by rods and chains to overhead mounted swing shafts, supported on bolted wood and metal framework from which are hung the boats each of which is fitted with seats, rails, nets and canopy. Further details include steps and walkways with handrails, the whole set dismantable for loading on two rubber tyred flat bed trailers with turning locks and belly boxes, finished in orange and cream with red decoration and black and red lettering. Additional equipment includes a 240v power unit for lighting and turbo blower; and an album of official photographs of the opening of Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Company Ltd Wythenshawe Works by HRH The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, November 22nd 1957
