'Lamprey', a grey Arab was bred by Sir Mathew Pierson at Lowthorpe, Yorkshire and foaled in 1715. He was first sold to Thomas Panton of Newmarket and later sold to Sir William Morgan in 1723. He had a distinguished racing career including wining the King's Plate in 1722. 'Lamprey' later was put out to stud but his career was cut short by accidental death in 1728.
