Lot Essay

Franz Schmidt of Georgenthal is known to have bought his heads from the nearby Simon and Halbig porcelain factory at Grafenhain, the similarity of this mould, both in facial features and painting details, to others made by Simon and Halbig for Kammer and Reinhardt in their 100 series, suggests they were sculpted by the same hand.
