In 1929 the author J.M. Barrie donated all rights to 'Peter Pan' to Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital, later confirmed in his will when he died in 1937. In 1987 the original gift of the copyright expired. A unique provision under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, 1988, granted an extension of its rights to the royalties. This will continue to benefit the hospital in perpetuity.

The Peter Pan League was a childrens club set up in 1929, it was designed to encourage children to help fund raise for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital Fund.
