By descent. The Holland Coachcraft Van model was introduced in 1935, used for advertising purposes, and deleted in around May 1936. This example was formerly the property of the founder of the company; having served his apprenticeship in his grandfather's coachbuilding works in Greenock, he founded Holland Coachcraft in about 1931, making his name as a motor vehicle designer, with his early designs apparently built by other firms. Unable to find a site in Scotland, he set up a successful vehicle building operation on the Team Valley estate on Gateshead on Tyne in 1936-1937. The war and unsuccessful War Ministry tenders caused the business to close in 1940.
