A Pepys' type carved and turned ivory part chess set
probably Vizigapatnam, mid 19th century
green stained and natural, (missing the white king, the green stained queen and a white pawn), the remainder have elaborately foliate carved stems with central plain knops, the king and queen with openwork knops, bishops' mitres with pierced borders -- king 6in. (15cm.), pawn 2.1.4in. (6cm.) (29)
