A turned ivory chess set of Senenus inspiration
Danish, late 18th/early 19th century
stained plum and natural, the kings, queens and bishops with contrasting finials, kings and queens with galleried tiers, bishop with slanting tier, all pieces on baluster stems except the tapering castellated rooks -- king 3½in. (9cm.), pawn 1¾in. (4.5cm.); with an associated set of twenty four carved ebony and cucquilla nut drafts; in a fitted mid 19th century, hinged box with a chess board inlaid in the lid.
