the case with caryatid angles flanking the serpentine dial, below inverted bell top with pineapple finials and dog surmount, on foliate scroll feet, the refinished dial with later foliate engraving signed Edward Pistor LONDON in the centre, with calendar aperture, later arcaded silvered chapter ring, the arch with four tune selection and formerly with automaton, the five pillar triple fusee movement with music on eight bells via fourteen hammers, hour strike on further bell, the anchor escapement now planted on the foliate engraved backplate, movement circa 1780 (altered), case circa 1870 -- 21½in.(54.5cm.) high
