probably Rouen and possibly representing the goddess Ceres, her hair caught up in a chignon, a garland of fruit and flowers about it and ribbons falling from it, her robe loosely caught up around her shoulders and fastened with buttons and a brooch, enriched in yellow, manganese, orange, blue, green and black, with a later wooden socle -- 27¾in. (70.5cm.) high overall, 19th century
