Two Sèvres (hard paste) blue-ground two-handled oviform vases
the bodies gilt with trophies above the titles Histoire and Poesie, each reverse with similar trophies titled Poesie and Danse ancienne, between bands of wreaths above bands of leaves and flowers, the shoulders with gilt gadrooned sections below necks gilt with fans issuing scrolls and flowers, the rims and feet with flowerheads, printed blue, incised and painted marks, one marked for the date 1828, the other with indistinct date code -- 8¾in. (22.3cm.) and 9in. (22.8cm.) high, 19th Century, (Histoire vase restored to the rim, one handle and foot, the other with slight wear)
