A lacquered-brass binocular The Exhibition Microscope, dated 1892, with dividing-eyepieces, prism, rack-and-pinion and fine focusing, circular mechanical stage, with concentric movement and silvered dial divided 0°-350°, mechanical sub-stage with iris diaphragm and plano/concave mirror on sliding collar, on Y-shaped stand signed J. Hicks, London -- 20in.(51cm.)high, with monocular body-tube on limb, nine objectives (eight in cans) and body-tube camera obscura, all in a glazed figured-walnut cabinet with twin fitted storage drawers and ogee-moulded sides -- 33½in.(85cm.)

As Hick's microscopes are for the most part unknown, it is possible that this instrument was produced for Hicks as a special display piece.
