Log Book No.1:- Opened 14-9-25 at Royal Air Force Cranwell; first flight on Avro 8939; 1st solo 24-4-26 after 10hrs 35mins; other aircraft flown include Bristol 4379, Snipe E 6596, Bristol Fighter H 1642 and others including Avro Lynx E 3401 on 14-7-27; 1-9-27 joins 'A' Flight 207(B) Squadron Eastchurch, aircraft flown D.H. 9A; 29-12-27 first flight on Fairey III F S1196; 27-4-28 first flight on Siskin III A -- "Local, Loops, 1/2 rolls off loops, full rolls Right & Left. V. nice and easy to fly", another entry 30-6-28 in Fairey III F 1202, "a/c developed tail flutter in dive at 220mph. Landed safely on aerodrome, -- split longerons".

Log Book No.3:- Opened 2-3-31, Aircraft carrier operations, visits to Argentine; new types include Flycatcher, D.H. Moth, Bristol Fighter, etc; 12-7-32 I.F. course at C.F.S. Wittering; 19-7-32 in Vickers Victoria 2344; numerous naval types flown "Above average" assessment.

Log Book No.4:- Opened 1-1-35, C.O. 'B' Flight 800 (F.F.) Sqdn; aircraft flown include Hawker Osprey and Nimrod; numerous carrier operations from H.M.S. Courageous; 2-7-35 flew Short Scion "v. nice"; service in Egypt 1935-36; 13-4-39 -- 30-6-39 flies Percival Q.6 with Forbes -- other intermediate flights include co-pilot in De Havilland D.H. 91 'Frobisher'; numerous other types before first solo on Hurricane P 3823 on 18-6-40; production as test pilot at Hawker Aircraft Company, Langley; many aircraft flown; to Gloster Aircraft at Brockworth 16-8-40 as production test pilot. Log book ends 31-7-41 with 2220hrs flown approx' on possibly 50 types; with an R.A.F. Signal Hand Book and a Spotters note book (5)
