The movement stamped 1984 and fitted with two hammers striking on a single coiled gong, the cream enamel dial inscribed A.& G. Cairncross, Perth, subsidiary alarm dial below, enclosed by a sand-ground brass mask, in bevelled-glazed brass-framed case, the moulded cornice surmounted by a folding reeded loop handle, bearing presentation inscription, on moulded out-curved base and block feet
